Story

In this game, you are an 18th century detective uncovering the mysteries behind twelve strange deaths spanning 50 years. Given various evidence and clues given, you are to deduce the killer(s) in this delightful mystery. The story is one of my favourites and each case is interlinked between one another with the finale connecting all the previous cases to it.

Gameplay

The game strikes a perfect balance between exploration and puzzle-solving. You will have to navigate intricate environments, searching for clues, and deciphering cryptic codes to progress further in the game. The controls are intuitive, ensuring that players can fully immerse themselves in the game's world without being hindered by clunky mechanics.

Puzzles

The biggest highlight of the game is its cleverly designed puzzles. From logic puzzles that challenged me to think critically to mechanical puzzles that require hours of observation and manipulation, the variety and complexity of the challenges ensure that I was constantly engaged. The difficulty level is well-balanced, offering both novice and seasoned players a satisfying level of challenge. Additionally, the puzzles are seamlessly integrated into the storyline, enhancing the overall immersion and sense of accomplishment.

However, the game does have a few minor flaws. The pacing can occasionally feel uneven, with some sections dragging on while others feel rushed. Additionally, a few of the puzzles may lack clear instructions, leading to moments of frustration. However, these issues are minor and did not detract my overall enjoyment of the game.

Verdict

This game is one of the best digital murder mystery games to come about and I strongly believe that more people should get their hands on it. It is on par with Return of the Obra Dinn, another video game that captures the essence of puzzle-solving, offering plenty of "a-ha" moments.
