Premise
It’s 1945 and you’ve just been recruited as a spy. You receive an urgent
message from another agent. She needs to meet you at a safe house where
she's been conducting surveillance. Once you arrive, you discover that
she's nowhere to be found. However, before she fled 'Agent M' managed to
leave you a series of clues. You need to solve these puzzles to locate
the secret she's been protecting.
Where did the agent go? Why did she leave in such a hurry? And what mission does she need you to complete?
Story
The story takes place in 1945 with your role as a spy to collect the floor plans from another spy known as "Agent M". She has scattered the floor plans all across the rooms for you to retrieve.
While the story makes for a very gorgeous setting, it didn't do much for us to feel like a spy set in a James Bond movie.Immersiveness
One of the key hightlights of Espionage was how beautifully decorated the room was. Filled with lots of old props and furniture, it really established the feeling of being in the year 1945 inside a surveillance room. It helps that the lighting was slightly dimmed, mimicking the feel of movies from the 1900s.Puzzles
Every puzzle we encountered throughout the game was fun and well-designed. None of them felt unfair to us with irrational leaps of logic to reach the solution. Some of the puzzles were very unique and not seen before in other escape rooms.
There were a couple of puzzles that led to us becoming too fixated on using a wrong approach to solve the puzzle, inevitably costing us precious time. Sadly I can't fault them for my trauma of bad escape rooms and their tedious puzzles.
Verdict
I really enjoyed my time playing Espionage from The Cipher Room! I would consider it to be more on the easier side of escape rooms and would recommend beginners and families to try it out! Even seasoned enthusiasts will have a kick playing this room. Furthermore, it's not scary whatsoever so it appeals to everyone!Rating: 5/5
