Premise

Terrible things happened to those who played this haunted board game when it was released in the 1950s. But the only way to solve the mystery is to play the game yourself.

Similar to an escape room game, this mystery presents you with a replica board game, chained up with a metal combination lock, and leaves you to work out how to open it and find and solve the mystery.

Components

The components from The Mystery Agency has never disappoint. The locks feel sturdy, the chains are actual metal and best of all, the board game is actually playable.

Gameplay


The game is layered in various sections, blocking you with the help of locks and passwords that often requires a 4-digit number or a word. Alongside the game pieces, there're websites available for you to access to view more information and gain clues to help you with your puzzle-solving.

Their hints and solutions system is easy to use and well layered to ensure that the satisfaction of solving any puzzles is always there.

Puzzles/Thoughts

➕Superb components. As always, it's one of the GOAT.

➕ Engaging story. It was quite fascinating to dig deeper into the mysteries of the ghost in the attic and the way they slowly dripfeed the information slowly.

➕ Simple yet fun puzzles. While the puzzles aren't mind-blowing, we had quite a few a-ha moments throughout the game and they were well aligned with the narrative of the game.

➖ Non-linear puzzle solving. There was 1 occasion where we had trouble figuring out a puzzle and it turns out that we did not have all the clues for that puzzles.

Verdict

This is a really great game that I highly recommend. It's sure to be a hit at most groups and is a great set piece once you're done with it.
