The tarot deck contains 78 cards--56 Minor Arcana and 22 Major Arcana, the latter of which each represent a puzzle. Alongside the deck is a story booklet that will offer you lore and guide you on the puzzles to solve. You have a journal/backpack item that helps you to take down notes and what items you've acquired throughout the game.
Gameplay
Puzzles are solved using sets of Minor Arcana cards and clues from the story booklet and result in solution keywords that lead players to discover new pieces of the narrative. Some story passages grant items which can be later used to unlock extra scenes, and some puzzles have multiple answers, allowing players to unlock more of the story if they find all the solutions.
Packed with gorgeous illustrations, resonant storytelling, and unique
puzzles, The Light in the Mist can be played solo or cooperatively in a
small group. It’s non-linear structure and varied puzzle difficulty
will engage players of all experience levels with over five hours of
gameplay.
Puzzles/Thoughts
➖Decent story. Our group wasn't interested in the story but it was quite interesting and relevant to the puzzles you solve.
✖️One of the puzzles was confusing. We read the hints & solutions system but we still couldn't figure out how to approach it.
Verdict
The Light in the Mist was a fun game! The puzzles had your classic PostCurious vibes and if you enjoyed their other games, you'll love this too.
The game is also leans more towards the easier side so it's an easy recommend for beginners. Don't let that fool you though as there are bonus puzzles for the more seasoned gamer to get their kicks.
